Recently I read Sue Fagalde Lick’s book, ”Freelancing for Newspapers.” Years before moving up to the Oregon coast, Lick wrote for many papers in Northern California.
I actually met Sue last Summer at the Dia De Portugal at the History Museum next to Kelly Park. Besides a
love of writing, we also share ancestry. We are both “Portuguesa.”
I highly recommend this paperback to anyone looking to crack the newspaper business. If you follow Lick’s advice you can get pubslished in newspapers. Stringing or freelancing. It’s all writing and it’s a start.
Sues’ very easy to read and well organized book tells you how to contact editors and give them exaclty what they want. Listed in the back are organizations and reference info.
The publishers are Quill Driver Books.
